These Willowwood sterling silver earrings are inspired by Margaret Macdonald's breathtakingly beautiful "O ye all ye that walk in Willowwood" gesso panels on display at the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow. Just as Mackintosh's famous gesso panels were often inset with precious and semi-precious stones and metals, these 925 Sterling Silver Earrings feature iolite and peridot stones and 18 carat gold plate highlights. Length 1.25”. Each piece is handcrafted. Coordinating pendant and cuff bracelet are also available.
Charles Mackintosh is commonly recognized as Scotland's most famous architect. Although Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh was somewhat marginalized in comparison, she was celebrated by many of her contemporaries, including her husband who once wrote in a letter to her, "Remember, you are half if not three-quarters in all my architectural work"; and reportedly "Margaret has genius, I have only talent."
