The Walter Crane Blossom and Swallow Tapestry Pillow's pattern was inspired by an 1878 wallpaper titled "Almond Blossom and Swallow", designed by Walter Crane (1845–1915), one of the leading proponents of the Aesthetic Movement, and the first President of the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society. Crane’s wallpaper designs often feature narratives, and illustrate the influence Japanese art had on British culture. This wallpaper pattern was exhibited at the World Expo 1878 in Paris, where it was awarded a gold medal. The original piece is now housed at the V&A in London. The tapestry woven design is on both sides of the pillow, and includes insert. Each pillow measures 17" x 17". Care instructions: Dry clean only.
