Description
“Kelmscott Manor” draws inspiration from a rural farmhouse that was so loved by William Morris. The farmhouse is located in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom just along the River Thames. Morris was associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and a founder of the British Arts & Crafts Movement. He is best known for his designs for furnishing fabrics and wallpaper. This linoleum block print was printed from 14 layers of colors using hand-carved blocks. Each color was hand-printed on acid-free 100% cotton Strathmore Paper, with Charbonnel ink, using Vandercook 4 printing press. Framed size: 13.75” x 19.75”. Each print is signed and is one of a numbered limited edition of 280. The frames are quartersawn oak with mortise & tenon construction by Dard Hunter Studios.
Founded in 1996 by Yoshiko Yamamoto with her husband Bruce Smith, the Arts & Crafts Press uses antique printing presses to handcraft traditional woodblock prints and letterpress printed greeting cards at their studio in Tacoma, Washington. While preserving and advancing the traditional aspects of letterpress and woodblock printing, the Arts and Crafts Press also strives to print for our future generations with a commitment to seeking alternative, "greener" printing materials and tools.
