Description
The Native American sculptural figure "Nakoma" was designed in 1923 for the Nakoma Country Club located in Madison, Wisconsin. Wright's original commission was never realized until the clubhouse was recently constructed by Taliesin Architects. The name Nakoma, a Chippewa Indian word, means "I do as I promise". The Nakoma sculpture has a curvilinear design, symbolic of the earth and Mother Nature as well as domestic virtue, with her back as a continuous circle, with round head and holding a round bowl. Nakoma also carries a papoose and has a child at her side. Made of cold cast resin, she stands 11.5” tall. Suitable for indoor use only. Gift wrap and expedited shipment not available.
