The Alphonse Mucha The Arts: Dance, 1898 Art Glass Panel is adapted from a color lithograph created as part of a series called “The Arts”. Mucha discarded traditional images such as musical instruments, paintbrushes, etc. Instead he emphasized natural beauty by giving each a circular backdrop featuring a motif from nature indicating a particular time of day. Dance is the most sensual of the series, with a single figure with long auburn hair and standing amid falling leaves blown by an autumn breeze.
On this glass panel, enamel colors are individually applied to a single sheet of glass which is then kiln fired to permanently fuse the enamels to the glass. The glass panel is then framed with a copper patina metal came for an antique feel, and includes both a hanging chain and clear acrylic stand for desk or table display. Dimensions: Ht: 12”. W: 7.5”.
Alfons Maria Mucha (1860-1939), often known in English and French as Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist. He produced many paintings, illustrations, advertisements and postcards as well as designs for jewelry, carpets, wallpaper and theatre sets. This stained glass panel has been developed in association with The Mucha Foundation, a non-profit charity devoted to preserving and conserving the Mucha Trust Collection.
