The Frank Lloyd Wright Tabletop Sprite is a reduced scale reproduction of the original Midway Gardens Sprite designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and sculptured by Alfonzo Ianelli, for the Midway Gardens complex, Chicago, Illinois, (1913-14). Nichols Bros. Stoneworks was granted a license by The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to produce stone garden vases and statuary designed by Mr. Wright. These pieces are faithfully reproduced from the original Wright designs. Created from sketches in the Frank Lloyd Wright Archives, this sculpture is hand cast in hydro-stone with a sandstone finish. The Tabletop Sprite is 12" in height.
I wasn’t sure from the photos if the mold had been made to accurately capture the expression of the sprite. That uncanny valley can be a creepy thing. However she is simply perfect with an expression of deep calm, as if beholding a private wonder. She is lovely amid my ferns.
